This guy was corrupt and mistress Annaliese was not going to tolerate it. She had to make sure that the guy learned his lesson and that he stopped behaving the way she did not want him to. He regretted what she did to him and that is how he learned that she was not messing around. He had to change the way he did things and he stopped being corrupt as he did not want to feel what he had felt when she punished him.
